On March 15th the pupils and staff will celebrate the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising. Pupils have studied this era in history and produced projects on the events of the rebellion, its leaders, the role of women and the children who lost their lives in the course of the conflict. Other pupils have reproduced 3D models of the main buildings associated with the rebellion. On the day, pupils will raise the Irish flag. The 1916 Proclamation will be read aloud. In an acknowledgement of the changing face of Irish society pupils will also read aloud a proclamation they have prepared for life in modern day Ireland. This ceremony will be followed by a pupil display of Irish singing, music, dance and poetry.
