Hatch for Schools Project
During May the pupils got the opportunity to participate in the Hatch for Schools project. This project afforded pupils the chance to witness chicks hatching from eggs and growing and developing. Seven eggs were delivered to the school in an incubator. Over the next five days we watched with great excitement waiting for the shells to crack and the chicks to emerge. Once the chicks hatched they had to be left in the incubator for 12 hours to dry out before being transferred to a special cage. It was amazing to see the chicks hatching and how quickly they developed different personalities. We got to mind the hatched chicks for a week before they headed back to the organic farm.
